We are seeking an experienced or fellowship-trained Thoracic Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary cardiothoracic and thoracic surgery program. This position focuses primarily on adult thoracic surgery, encompassing both elective and urgent cases. The successful candidate will provide high-quality, patient-centered surgical care across multiple settings, participating in both operative and non-operative management.
The thoracic surgeon will manage a full-scope adult thoracic practice, performing pulmonary resections, esophageal surgery, mediastinal tumor resections, and managing thoracic trauma and emergent procedures. The role heavily emphasizes minimally invasive and robotic-assisted thoracic procedures within dedicated operating rooms equipped with advanced capabilities.
You will participate in preoperative and postoperative management, including ICU and step-down care, while collaborating closely with pulmonology, oncology, critical care, and cardiothoracic colleagues. The team supports multidisciplinary tumor boards and procedural planning to ensure comprehensive patient care.
This opportunity offers a balanced mix of elective and urgent/emergent cases, with call coverage primarily provided by the new hire, supported by two other thoracic/cardiothoracic surgeons. Most work is located in Detroit, with occasional coverage required at a satellite location.
The program is committed to quality and recognition, with participation in hospital quality programs and national benchmarks for thoracic outcomes. There is a distinct opportunity to shape program growth, including the adoption of advanced surgical techniques and service line development.
Join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to excellence in thoracic and cardiothoracic care. This role offers the chance to grow a thoracic surgery service line with access to state-of-the-art surgical technology and advanced perioperative support.
