This position serves as a critical link between advanced materials science and real-world aerospace applications. You will lead initiatives to establish next-generation coatings with unique capabilities for specific engine applications, ranging from engine safety and production stoppage solutions to new technology development and cost reduction.\n As part of an Integrated Product Team, you will collaborate with internal engineering disciplines, management, and manufacturing customers to ensure the successful transition and implementation of technology into Pratt & Whitney's products. Your work will involve interfacing with major government entities, including the Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE), and NASA, to secure and execute contracts. You will be responsible for benchmarking coating and alloy technologies, managing projects, and updating engineering standard work.
This is an Onsite role located in East Hartford, CT. Employees in Onsite roles work primarily at the assigned site, as they are essential to the development of our products. While commuting is the employee's personal responsibility, candidates should be prepared to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at our office locations as part of our secure hiring commitment.

Advanced degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related technical field with minimum 3 years of experience. Background in Thermal Barrier Coatings and Environmental Barrier Coatings, gas turbine engine alloys, and high pressure turbine design. Experience in testing and characterization of thin films with a fundamental understanding of effects of environmental contaminants such as dirt, sulfur, and salt on performance of aerospace materials. Experience in data collection, data management, and data analysis methods. Fundamental understanding of material and process modeling. Experience with Lean/Six Sigma tools.
