The College Internship Program (CIP) is a full-year private young adult transition program for individuals aged 18-26 with autism, ADHD, and other learning differences. With over 40 years of experience, CIP uniquely addresses the needs of adolescents and young adults by providing a comprehensive curriculum, expert staffing, and a structured weekly schedule. We believe that a learning disability is a learning difference, and our expert staff meet our young adults where they are at.
Students live within a close-knit community of peers in a supported apartment living setting, fully accessing the surrounding community. Each student's unique needs are met individually as they prepare for success in independent living, college, and employment. Our goal is to help develop the self-knowledge and skills necessary for young adults to live happy and productive lives.
As a Clinician, you will be an onsite position located in Long Beach, CA, reporting to the Program Director. You will operate in a highly scheduled environment, delivering high-quality direct clinical services, including tele-counseling. This role involves working within the CIP Clinical Framework to provide assessments, support plans, individual and group therapy, and case management.
You will lead in crisis intervention and emergency on-call situations, collaborating closely with prescribing physicians on medication and the continuity of external treatment plans. A key part of your day will involve connecting with CIP staff and administration to increase student engagement, participation, self-awareness, and self-advocacy in their mental health care journey. You will also develop effective strategies to help students navigate mental, behavioral, and physical health services in real-world settings.
While the position involves low physical demand, it may require longer hours, occasional weekend work, and minimal travel as job duties dictate. You will be expected to master CIP's medical record platform, Therapy Notes, and possess exceptional communication skills, precision, and genuine empathy for prospective families, students, and staff.
Candidates for this role should possess a Master's degree in a relevant field (such as Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or Education) and hold an active license (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, or LMHC). Clinical experience in an educational setting with young adults with ASD and/or learning disabilities is required, as is an active driver's license.
