The Telecommunications Installation Technician I is a career-track technical position dedicated to installing and supporting information systems for dairy farms across the United States. This role is designed for individuals with a strong technical aptitude who thrive in a team-oriented environment and are eager to work directly within a farm setting.
As part of this team, you will be responsible for the installation and support of critical infrastructure, including networks, surveillance cameras, computers, and computer hardware. This is a physically demanding position that requires significant travel, with a minimum of 60% of your time spent on the road throughout the country.
This role is primarily performed outdoors on active dairy farms, often in close proximity to livestock. You will work in a variety of environmental conditions, ranging from extreme heat to cold. Daily tasks frequently involve using ladders and aerial lifts to reach heights of up to 100 feet.
The position requires driving a vehicle regularly and may involve air travel to reach different farm locations. While the work is largely field-based, you will also spend several hours each day in an office environment using computers and telephones.
To succeed in this role, you must be capable of sitting, standing, kneeling, and climbing ladders. The job involves lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 80 pounds as needed.
Candidates with an Associate's degree in animal science, general agriculture, information systems, or a relevant field, along with at least one year of experience, are encouraged to apply. Those with additional relevant experience in repairing Windows-based computers, deploying point-to-multipoint wireless networks, or providing IT managed services may also be considered. A valid driver's license is required.
