As a Senior High Technology Educator in Construction, you will teach and facilitate learning for General Carpentry 1 and 2. Your primary mission is to maintain academic progress, discipline, and records for high school students while working collaboratively with parents and students to implement classroom education that meets diverse needs.
You will serve as a bridge between the classroom and the Career and Technical Education (CTE) office, participating in pathway advisory committee meetings and collaborating with staff to ensure students succeed on state assessment exams. The role requires a balance of instructional leadership and operational safety, ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition and that shop practices are strictly enforced.
Your day involves instructing students through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, while establishing clear objectives for every lesson and project. You will create, administer, and grade tests to evaluate progress, while also observing and reporting on student development. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to maintaining order in the classroom and discussing student problems and progress with parents and staff.
Beyond the classroom, you will participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and educational conferences. You are expected to utilize technology such as SMART boards and iPads, while also complying with all district policies and regulations. The role demands physical readiness to respond rapidly in emergencies and the ability to stand, move, and lift as needed in a shop environment.
Candidates must hold a current Kansas State teaching license or a Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate at the High School Level with an endorsement in Cabinet Making, Industrial Arts, Technology Education, or Comprehensive Industrial Technology. While classroom teaching experience is preferred, the core requirement is the appropriate licensure.
Interested applicants should apply through the USD 259 district channels. The position is exempt under FLSA status and requires adherence to strict punctuality and professional appearance standards to reflect positively on the district.
USD 259 values a professional, positive, and collaborative environment. We expect all employees to understand the district's mission, purpose, and goals, recognizing the vital role every employee plays in achieving them. We seek individuals who can interact with a diverse population with tact and diplomacy, maintaining a friendly and responsive attitude with all internal and external customers.
We are committed to operating effectively and expect all staff to perform assigned duties during scheduled hours, reporting only for approved leave. By joining our team, you contribute to a culture of safety, education, and professional growth.
