As a Technician III Tractor, you will serve as a key expert in maintaining the fleet's operational integrity. This role goes beyond standard repairs; you will perform in-depth diagnostics and maintenance on engines, transmissions, drivelines, HVAC, electrical systems, and more. You will act as a mentor and trainer to junior technicians (Tractor Tech I and II), helping to cultivate the next generation of talent within the team.
Your day will involve driving trucks in and out of the shop, conducting DOT and lease operator inspections, and ensuring every tractor is prepared for the next driver. You will be expected to maintain high productivity levels, adhere to SRT times, and keep the work area clean and organized. This position requires independent analysis and safe resolution of complex mechanical problems, utilizing your own hand tools to keep the fleet moving.
This role is located at the Ellenwood USX Terminal with a Sunday through Wednesday schedule (0600-1630). The position is open to candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent, and some college or trade school experience is preferred. Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, DOT/AC/brake certifications, and a minimum of five years of tractor experience (or a Technical Diploma in Diesel Technology to substitute for one year).
