This Technical Writer position is designed to support the development of prototypes undergoing CONOP (Concept of Operations) development. You will serve as a bridge between complex engineering concepts and end-user needs, producing, proof-reading, editing, and formatting technical documentation across various media channels. From design specifications and manuals to online help and proposals, your work ensures that Technical Data Packages (TDPs) are prepared and delivered for projects reaching prototype or low-rate production stages.
Your day-to-day involves creating and maintaining briefs for prototype devices, coordinating test event support, and preparing test plans and results for functional and operational tests. You will interact with external parties tasked with producing units, manage lab inventory documentation, and write standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment, including hazard analyses. This role requires a self-starter who can work with minimal oversight, utilizing documentation tools to incorporate multimedia elements and conducting usability testing to ensure documentation is intuitive and easy to follow.
Candidates must possess an active minimum Secret clearance to be eligible for this position. The role involves up to 25% travel within the Continental US to support test events and coordinate with external parties.

5-10 years of technical writing experience or other related technical field. Existing experience producing technical documentation for projects on IAC MAC task orders. Experience in a technical writing position working with IAC MAC customers. Experience in DoD customer relations and technical writing. Certified Professional Technical Communicator (CPTC).
