About the Role
DTS is seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager to support a direct client position in Atlanta, GA. This role is designed to bridge the gap between complex business workflows and technical engineering execution within the Georgia Department of Transportation's (GDOT) enterprise IT environment.
Operating with a high level of responsibility, the Technical Product Manager will lead statewide business objectives in IT fields such as electronic data processing, information systems technology, and electronic security. The position requires a unique blend of business acumen and a deep understanding of technical architecture, system integrations, and data structures. You will direct subordinate managers and staff while assessing specialized applications, platforms, and data product requests to ensure they align with state agency goals.
Day in the Life
As the primary liaison between business units (Engineering, Planning, Operations), executive leadership, and engineering teams, you will lead discovery sessions to transform vague business requests into structured, prioritized product backlogs. Your day will involve translating complex business processes into technical specifications, system architecture maps, and clear acceptance criteria for developers.
You will collaborate closely with enterprise architects, security teams, and database administrators to evaluate technical feasibility and mitigate risks. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to ensuring all product features conform to internal IT governance frameworks, state agency security protocols, and strict regulatory or federal compliance standards. Additionally, you will establish protocols for consistent documentation, presenting status updates to stakeholders and management while developing guidelines to help business users submit high-quality project requests.
