About Union Settlement
Founded in 1895, Union Settlement is an East Harlem-based nonprofit organization and a pioneer of the settlement house movement. For over 128 years, we have provided critical and innovative programming to children, youth, families, and older adults. Key Responsibilities
- check_circleUpdate and maintain all required records for effective center administration
- check_circlePerform routine classroom duties and fulfill the Group Teacher's function in their absence
- check_circleCreate and execute weekly lesson plans in accordance with the approved agency curriculum
- check_circleReport damaged or hazardous equipment to the Educational or Site Director immediately
- check_circlePlan classroom furniture arrangements to promote optimal program functioning
- check_circleMaintain equipment and materials in good condition to encourage constructive use by children
- check_circleParticipate in supervision meetings to discuss professional performance and receive guidance
- check_circleShare program and child information with parents while ensuring confidentiality
- check_circleAssist in developing educational goals appropriate to children's age and developmental levels
Requirements
- verifiedHigh School Diploma or GED with enrollment in Associate's/Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or related field, or enrollment in CDA credential program
- verifiedChild Development Associate credential (CDA) preferred
- verifiedOne year of experience working with preschool-age children preferred
- verifiedSuccessful PETS and State Central Registry (SCR) clearances required
- verifiedBilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential (must be current). One year of experience working with preschool-age children. Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
