About the Role
As a Teacher/Reading Specialist in Pittsylvania County, you will serve as a vital partner in ensuring every student achieves literacy proficiency. Your primary mission is to provide targeted coaching and intervention supports using evidence-based reading strategies, with a specific focus on helping students who fall behind literacy benchmarks. You will play a key role in the district's commitment to ensuring all students are reading at grade level by third grade.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with families and classroom teachers to design and implement individualized reading plans. Your day-to-day work involves diagnosing student abilities, administering assessments, and analyzing data to adjust interventions in real-time. You will create a nurturing, organized, and safe classroom environment where differentiated learning experiences are the norm. Beyond direct instruction, you will work to build cooperative relationships with parents and colleagues to support holistic academic growth.
