Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) is one of the largest and most diverse school districts in the United States. Our teachers and staff educate more than 80,000 students in Metro Nashville-Davidson County, preparing them to excel in higher education, work, and life. We implement some of the most innovative reform strategies in the nation and strive to become the highest-performing urban district in the country.
We seek to partner with highly effective, engaging teachers, teacher leaders, and support staff who possess a passion for urban education and a go-getter spirit. Whether you are a teacher, an administrator, or a potential support staff employee, if you want to make a difference, we want to hear from you.
As a Teacher within the MNPS Certificated Teacher Grade Ladder, you will instruct students individually and in groups using multiple teaching methods. Your role is to facilitate cognitive and social-emotional learning, including pre-academic skills in literacy and math, self-regulation, and positive interactions with peers and adults.
You will create safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environments by designing and adapting the physical classroom layout to meet the interests and needs of your students. Your day will involve planning daily lessons that engage students in active, hands-on learning through whole-group, small-group, and individual activities. You will establish meaningful relationships with students, model positive social interactions, and foster a strong community of learners by reinforcing clear rules and procedures.
A key part of your mission is to implement developmentally appropriate early childhood assessments to measure progress and identify learning gaps. You will use this data to refine curriculum and adjust instructional practices. Furthermore, you will collaborate with parents, guardians, colleagues, counselors, and administrators to promote students' academic and social-emotional growth and to resolve behavioral or academic challenges.
