Boston Public Schools (BPS) is a community of teachers, learners, and leaders committed to a vision of high expectations for achievement and equal access to high-level instruction. We strive for academic proficiency for all students and are dedicated to closing the achievement gap among subgroups within our schools. BPS offers an environment that supports creativity and innovation while respecting the unique skills and abilities of every educator.
We are seeking an exceptional Elementary Specialist Teacher with an SEI endorsement to join our community. This is a unique opportunity for educators who desire to serve where their efforts matter most.
Unlike a traditional homeroom position, this role is designed to cover Planning & Development (P&D) periods for homeroom teachers. You will provide essential content support to supplement lessons, ensuring students receive additional instruction during their planning times. You will creatively integrate reading, writing, and analytical skills into an interdisciplinary course of study aligned with state curricular frameworks. Your work will focus on establishing a developmentally appropriate, child-centered environment that values positive relationships and utilizes structured routines to meet the needs of all learners.
Candidates must hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Elementary 1-6 and an SEI endorsement (or dual certification in ESL) to be considered. Please refer to the BPS website for detailed salary and compensation information based on union agreements and grade/step levels.
The Boston Public Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, criminal record, physical or mental disability, pregnancy, homelessness, sex/gender, gender identity, religion, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, genetics, natural or protective hairstyle, military status, immigration status, English language proficiency, or any other factor prohibited by law. BPS does not tolerate retaliation or bias-based intimidation. If you require an accommodation pursuant to the ADA for the application process, please contact the Accommodations Unit at accommodations@bostonpublicschools.org.
