The Elementary School Teacher serves as a vital partner in implementing the District's instructional program and educational philosophy. This role is designed to collaborate with the broader school community to prepare students for success, ensuring they meet state academic standards. At SISD, every employee is expected to act with integrity, champion student needs, and drive continuous improvement while communicating clearly and respectfully.
Your day is dedicated to creating an environment conducive to learning. You will design and deliver effective lessons that present subject matter clearly and interestingly, utilizing appropriate materials and activities to engage students. Beyond the classroom instruction, you will manage classroom procedures to foster positive discipline, helping students develop self-control and responsibility.
A significant part of your role involves building strong connections with the school community. You will coordinate with team members, librarians, counselors, and administrators to support student welfare and place students in the most effective educational settings. You will also initiate and maintain open communication with parents, keeping them informed about student progress, programs, and any challenges that arise.
We value professionalism and continuous learning. As a teacher, you are expected to remain current in education through literature, workshops, conferences, and college courses. You will work collaboratively with staff and administrators, sharing resources and utilizing evaluations to leverage your strengths and improve areas of need. Adhering to the Texas Education Code of Ethics and supporting the District's philosophy are core to our culture.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited institution and a valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsements. Please note that a Reading Certification is required for teachers applying to teach K-3 students (or currently enrolled). While five years of successful classroom experience is preferred, we welcome dedicated educators ready to contribute to our mission.
SISD is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, ensuring that our school community reflects the students we serve.
