Under the direction of Library Media Services, this position provides leadership to ensure all students become effective users of ideas and information. The School Library Media Specialist serves as a teacher, materials expert, and curriculum adviser, fully integrating the library/media center into the school's instructional programs. The role is dedicated to developing students' 21st-century skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, and using information to solve problems.
You will engage learners through print and digital resources, empowering them to access, create, and share content while collaborating as global citizens. As an educational leader and change agent, you will partner with teachers to develop curriculum, model collaborative planning, and promote the highest standards of ethics in the use of information technology. The position requires fostering a safe, secure environment that encourages a love of reading, risk-taking, and innovation, ensuring students are college-ready, workforce-ready, and lifelong learners.
This is a campus-based position requiring regular and punctual attendance at the worksite; remote work is not an option. The work environment typically features a moderate noise level, and travel throughout the district is an integral part of the role. The position involves managing multiple interruptions and multitasking under pressure while supervising media assistants, student aides, and volunteers.
