About the Role
As a Tax Senior Accountant within our Finance, Accounting & Administration department, you will be the strategic partner for our real estate-focused organization. This role exists to manage complex tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities that support our portfolio of senior living communities and related real estate entities. You will not only ensure accuracy and adherence to regulations but also analyze the tax implications of new community developments and ongoing operations to identify risks and opportunities that align with our strategic growth.
In this position, you will work closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to integrate tax considerations into budgets, forecasts, and strategic planning. You will play a key role in process improvements, helping to standardize procedures and leverage technology to increase efficiency. Additionally, you will mentor junior tax staff, fostering a culture of professional development and technical excellence.
Work Environment
This position typically operates in a hybrid office environment. You will make periodic on-site visits to our communities as needed for special projects, collaboration, and to gain a deeper understanding of the operational activities that drive the organization's tax profile.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circlePrepare and review federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns for real estate entities
- check_circleCoordinate quarterly and annual tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and GAAP workpapers
- check_circleAnalyze tax implications of real estate transactions and developments to identify risks and opportunities
- check_circleResearch complex tax issues and communicate findings and recommendations to management
- check_circleMonitor changes in tax laws affecting the real estate and senior living industries
- check_circleSupport tax audits by preparing documentation and assisting in audit strategy development
- check_circleCollaborate with finance teams to ensure tax considerations are reflected in budgets and forecasts
- check_circleDevelop and enhance tax processes, internal controls, and technology to improve reporting efficiency
- check_circleMentor junior tax staff by reviewing work and providing technical guidance and feedback
- check_circlePartner with operations leadership to ensure appropriate tax treatment across the community portfolio
Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- verifiedCPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred or in progress
- verifiedMaster's in Taxation or Accounting a plus
- verifiedStrong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations
- verifiedExperience with real estate and partnership taxation preferred
- verifiedProficiency with tax preparation and research software (e.g., CCH, Thomson Reuters)
- verifiedAdvanced Excel skills
Nice to Have
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred or in progress. Master's in Taxation or Accounting. Experience with real estate and partnership taxation.
