This position serves as a vital support function for facility operations, ensuring that all building systems and equipment perform their intended functions reliably and safely. The primary mission is to maintain infrastructure that meets all relevant codes and standards, thereby guaranteeing accurate results for compliance purposes.
The role is designed for an individual who can work independently on semi-routine assignments while exercising necessary judgment to resolve nonstandard problems. While the contractor will receive initial training on specific tasks, the expectation is to quickly transition to autonomous execution of daily duties.
Working primarily during the day shift (Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), you will manage a diverse array of facility systems including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, heating, and cooling. Your day involves performing inspections and testing on fire protection and life safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers, dampers, doors, emergency showers, and egress lighting.
Beyond inspections, you will handle preventative maintenance and minor repairs, including changing fan coil filters, cleaning ice machines and machine rooms, and replacing light bulbs. You will also be responsible for documenting work in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), updating compliance folders, and reviewing test request schedules. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting effectively with staff, visitors, and patients throughout the facility.
