The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) provides highway safety and security through excellence in service, education, and enforcement. With a workforce of approximately 4,500 employees throughout the state, the Department is leading the way to "A Safer Florida" through the efficient and professional execution of its core mission: the issuance of driver licenses, vehicle tags and titles, and operation of the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Division of Information Systems Administration, within the Deputy Chief Information Office, supports this mission through the Bureau of Service Operations. This specific role sits within the Infrastructure Support group, under the Platform Systems team.

About the Role

As a Systems Programmer II, you will be a vital member of the Platform Motorist Support (PMS) team. This team is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and providing support for all Motorist field-critical solutions, processes, and connectivity delivered for the benefit of the Agency, the State, and its citizens.

In this capacity, you will provide installation, configuration, integration, and technical support for the Department's FDLIS/FRVIS field systems. Your work will encompass a wide range of infrastructure elements, including printers, desktops, systems hardware and software, monitoring tools, security logs, and secure access for individuals and mobile users/offices, as well as Tax Collectors. The PMS team also provides field support, administration, and Level 2 technical support to ensure optimal performance, security, and collaboration for the Agency and its customers.

Important Background Check Requirements: This position is subject to a Level 2 background check and Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, including a fingerprint-based check of FBI criminal records. This is a condition of employment pursuant to Florida Statutes. Please note that since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant's criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.
