Blanchard Machinery is the certified Caterpillar dealer for South Carolina, recognized for providing top-notch equipment solutions and a steadfast commitment to excellence. We are dedicated to fostering the next generation of skilled diesel technicians through our proprietary ThinkBIG program, which introduces and trains passionate individuals in the world of Caterpillar diesel technology.
The Think Big Student Technician position is a unique two-year opportunity designed to launch careers in heavy equipment maintenance. Starting in Fall 2026, this program blends classroom learning at Florence Darlington Technical College (FDTC) with hands-on paid internship experiences at Blanchard Machinery. You will spend half of each semester completing technical and general education courses, while the remaining time is dedicated to applying that knowledge in a real-world setting at a sponsoring dealer. Upon completion, you will earn an Associate of Applied Science degree, gain one year of Caterpillar dealer experience, and receive a year's wages from the sponsored internship.
To join the program, candidates must interview with and secure sponsorship from a local Blanchard Machinery branch. Admission requires passing all testing mandated by Florence Darlington Technical College (SAT, ACT, or Accuplacer) as well as Blanchard Machinery's Mechanical Aptitude test. Successful applicants must also clear a background check and drug screen while meeting company driving policy requirements.
We are committed to building a diverse workforce and consider qualified applicants regardless of background. This program offers a pathway to become a member of the worldwide Caterpillar family with potential opportunities for advancement within the dealer network.
