About the Team

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure the physical foundation for Google's future—everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. We combine deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions that support Google's massive infrastructure growth.

Google Cloud accelerates every organization's ability to digitally transform its business and industry. We deliver enterprise-grade solutions that leverage Google's cutting-edge technology, helping customers in more than 200 countries and territories enable growth and solve their most critical business problems.

About the Role

As a Strategic Negotiator, you will play a key role in driving location strategy, site selection, and portfolio management for new and existing data center sites and related infrastructure. You will primarily support the development of the company's global economic development program for data centers.

In this role, you will negotiate directly and work closely with energy and location strategy teams to advise on economic development agreements. You will help establish standard operating policies and procedures to drive the pursuit of sustainable agreements. Your knowledge of existing economic development programs, state and local tax and regulatory environments, and company goals will position you to influence key decisions. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including acquisition, development, policy, legal, tax, data center operations, and HR—to communicate strategy frameworks and address emerging issues. You will also support the team's development, aggregation, tracking, and reporting of portfolio-related metrics such as Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Hiring Process

Google is committed to a fair and transparent hiring process. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background. For applicants in San Francisco, qualified applications with arrest or conviction records will be considered in accordance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act. In accordance with Washington state law, we are highlighting our comprehensive benefits package available to all eligible US-based employees.

If you have a need that requires accommodation, please let us know by completing our Accommodations for Applicants form.

Equal Opportunity

Google is proud to be an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. We are committed to building a workforce that is representative of the users we serve, creating a culture of belonging, and providing an equal employment opportunity regardless of race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy or related condition, or any other basis protected by law. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements.

Google is a global company, and in order to facilitate efficient collaboration and communication globally, English proficiency is a requirement for all roles unless stated otherwise.
