As a Store Manager for Goodwill, you will oversee store operations to ensure company standards are consistently met. Your mission is to implement business plans that achieve sales and profit goals while delivering high-quality customer service. Beyond operations, you will cultivate a clean, organized, and inviting shopping environment. This role is designed to offer a work/life balance that distinguishes Goodwill from other retailers, supported by a comprehensive 12-week training program to prepare you for leading a people-centered, high-performance team.
Your typical day involves supervising and coaching retail and production team members to provide efficient, friendly service across registers, fitting rooms, sales floors, and donation areas. You will ensure merchandise is presented according to company guidelines and maintain high standards of housekeeping. Analyzing monthly store reports to evaluate expenses and performance is a key part of your routine, as is addressing any deviations from standards with appropriate action plans. You will also be responsible for scheduling team members effectively, recruiting and developing new hires, and ensuring compliance with personnel and safety policies.
Goodwill Store Managers enjoy a unique schedule designed for flexibility and well-being. You will work a 5-day week with only one closing per week, avoiding the grueling 7+ day stretches common in the industry. Store hours are 9am-8pm Monday-Saturday and 11am-7pm on Sunday. There is no overnight work for inventory or merchandise moves, and you can expect to have most Sundays off, with one full weekend off every month. Additionally, there are no mass weekly signage changes, making the schedule beneficial for working parents and students.
Our journey ensures your work brings purpose as it directly impacts our mission services and the communities we serve. We welcome you as you are, believing that Goodwill's strength lies in the diversity of those we employ, educate, and serve. We are committed to sustainability and making a positive contribution to our community, with values that guide everything we do.
