About the Role
In this position, you will serve as a vital member of an interdisciplinary team, supporting patients and families through all stages of treatment. You will provide safe, evidence-based direct nursing care to assigned patients across the lifespan, adhering to OhioHealth policies and professional standards. Your day will involve assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care while ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality protocols.
You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, pharmacists, and support staff to foster a respectful, team-oriented environment. A key part of your mission is to educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications, and health promotion strategies using clear, culturally sensitive communication. By modeling OhioHealth's values of compassion, inclusion, and excellence, you will help provide equitable care to diverse populations and mentor newer staff as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities
- check_circleProvide safe, evidence-based direct nursing care to patients across the lifespan
- check_circlePerform and document comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs and clinical status
- check_circleDevelop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients and the healthcare team
- check_circleAdminister medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments accurately and safely
- check_circleDocument all aspects of patient care, assessments, and outcomes in the electronic health record
- check_circleEducate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and health promotion strategies
- check_circleCoordinate care and participate in discharge planning to support safe transitions
- check_circleRespond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
- check_circleAdhere to infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards
- check_circleParticipate in unit-based quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
- check_circleCollaborate effectively with physicians, therapists, and support staff to foster a team environment
- check_circleMentor newer staff and model organizational values of compassion and excellence
Requirements
- verifiedCurrent valid RN license in the State of Ohio or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
- verifiedBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or obtained within an established timeframe
- verifiedBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or equivalent
- verifiedAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (or obtained within designated timeframe, depending on unit)
- verifiedSpecialty nursing certification (e.g., CCRN, PCCN, CMSRN, CEN, or equivalent) preferred based on clinical area
- verifiedPrevious acute care or clinical practicum experience in a hospital setting preferred
Nice to Have
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) obtained or to be obtained within an established timeframe. Specialty nursing certification (e.g., CCRN, PCCN, CMSRN, CEN, or equivalent) preferred based on clinical area. Previous acute care or clinical practicum experience in a hospital setting.
