This role is designed to support hospital pharmacy operations, ensuring physician orders are reviewed and processed and medications are dispensed to patients safely and efficiently. You will operate under broad guidelines, frequently exercising your own judgment to make critical decisions that require a very high degree of accuracy. Your work directly impacts the safety of patients and department personnel.
In this position, you will evaluate physician drug orders for appropriateness regarding patient conditions, organ function, and concomitant therapies to promote optimal outcomes. You will process orders, manage compounding and labeling, and consult with various healthcare professionals to provide guidance on drug use. You will also assume duties of the Director of Pharmacy in their absence, assist in orienting new personnel, and participate in hospital committees to help establish drug-related policies. The role requires maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information and adhering to all state and federal laws, regulations, and company policies.
