About the Role
Ninyo & Moore, a SOCOTEC Company, is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer, Staff Engineering Geologist, or Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Las Vegas, Nevada. This position is dedicated to advancing geotechnical investigations and analysis, distinct from environmental geology roles.
In this role, you will lead the execution of geotechnical projects from the field to the final report. Your day will involve conducting site investigations, performing boring layouts for utility clearance, and acquiring necessary permits from public agencies. You will supervise and coordinate subcontractors, including drill rigs and backhoes, while classifying soils and logging borings, test pits, and cores. The role also includes performing floor level surveys and geophysical testing, reviewing plans and specifications, and preparing comprehensive geotechnical reports and letters.
Beyond fieldwork, you will assist project managers with the accumulation and compilation of geotechnical and geological data. You will be responsible for assignments and the compilation of laboratory testing and geotechnical calculations, covering shallow and deep foundation design, pavement section design, retaining walls, slope stability analysis, liquefaction, and settlement.
Who You Are
We are looking for a candidate with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field (an M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or Geology is preferred). While the role is designed for professionals with 0-3 years of experience, preferably within a geotechnical consulting firm, the ideal candidate possesses a thorough understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering.
Success in this position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and strong organizational abilities. You must demonstrate a strong work ethic capable of handling both indoor and outdoor environments, with the flexibility to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Location and Eligibility
