We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today's mission and stay ahead of tomorrow's threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.
The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support, MA&T delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods leveraging industry-leading commercial tools. All solutions are complemented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost-effective yet technically balanced outcomes.
Raytheon is seeking an experienced Senior Principal Structural Engineer to join the MA&T Department with a specialized background in high-temperature structural materials, including refractory metals, ceramics, and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs). In this onsite role based in Tucson, AZ, you will serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) and leader, defining the scope of analysis and testing required to meet program objectives.
You will act as a recognized technical leader, helping to define and develop departmental technical processes and tools. Your work will span the spectrum from classical hand calculations to detailed finite element analyses, supporting all phases of programs from development to production. You will be accountable for individual work within agreed-upon cost and schedule constraints, presenting results to internal stakeholders and external government customers. As a peer reviewer and leader, you will ensure the technical accuracy of work products while guiding teams to meet critical milestones.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required active and transferable U.S. government-issued Secret security clearance prior to the start date. Please note that as part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid, or remote.
