The Materials and Process Engineering Department, within Hardware Engineering, is seeking a Senior Principal High Temperature Materials Engineer to join our Advanced Materials Section in Tucson, Arizona. This position is designed for a qualified candidate with a strong background in high temperature material testing and manufacturing methods to work within integrated product teams.
In this role, you will serve as a technical leader for material decisions, defining the strategic direction for program or product lines while considering technical and programmatic aspects. You will drive the execution of that strategy across multiple programs and act as a subject matter expert to the organization in developing required technologies for high temperature applications. As a technical lead in a multi-disciplined team environment, you will provide independently determined solutions to create high-fidelity simulations and models for missile system design, performance assessment, and flight test support.
You will be expected to manage and coordinate a wide variety of simultaneous tasks within set schedule requirements. Your work will involve defining design verification test requirements to ensure key performance characteristics and environmental interaction effects are quantified within program constraints. Deliverables will include test documentation, data analysis, anomaly resolution, and presenting results to both internal and external customers. You will also provide mentorship and shoulder-to-shoulder empirical experience for engineers, solving the hardest high temperature materials challenges independently or through team leadership.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid, or remote.
Please consider the role type definition as you apply: Onsite roles require employees to work primarily onsite, as they are essential to the development of our products. RTX anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted, though business necessity may require adjustments.
