As part of the Global Process Engineering team, the Sr. Principal Process Engineer serves as the recognized technical authority and Subject Matter Expert for manual and automated inspection equipment. This role is accountable for the end-to-end process engineering ownership of this equipment, spanning from conceptual design and commissioning to qualification and initial equipment start-up for commercial manufacturing.
You will work within the Innovative Medicine division, where expertise is informed and inspired by patients. In this capacity, you will demonstrate scientific, technical, and business expertise to develop processes, solve sophisticated equipment issues, optimize operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
This position is based in Wilson, North Carolina, and requires full-time on-site support at the plant site. However, the design phase of the facility will occur at an engineering firm, requiring frequent travel (greater than 75%) until the project shifts to the Wilson location. The role operates within a cGMP, aseptic, large-molecule biotherapeutic drug product environment.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree (MS) or MBA; Consistent track record leading large-scale capital projects for optical inspection equipment with total project values in the range of $20M–$100M; Experience supporting greenfield and/or brownfield cGMP drug product manufacturing facility start-up in the area of optical inspection (manual and automated); Experience transitioning OI equipment from conceptual design through operational readiness in a commercial biotherapeutic drug product environment.
