The Precision Control Actuation System (PCAS) department is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Harness and Interconnect organization. This role supports the development, build, and verification of harnessing systems for tactical missile Integrated Product Teams.

This position is based in Tucson, Arizona (US-AZ-TUCSON-M10) and is an Onsite role. Employees in Onsite roles work primarily on-site, as they are essential to the development of our products. Experience with engineering of complex systems of devices and interconnects. Experience with development of harnessing requirements, system architecture, requirements risk, requirements verification and validation, system performance & function, safety and environmental compliance. Experience working with a wide variety of industry / military standards and specifications. Experience generating first order electrical analysis including DC resistance and voltage drop. Experience deriving applicable technical requirements from higher level specifications. Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5. Proven ability to deconstruct higher level tasks into discrete lower-level work packages and tasks. Proven ability to take ownership of complex harnessing systems and coordinating completion of technical data packages with peers. Experience developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the entire product lifecycle including proposal, design, manufacture, integration and test. Developing subject matter expertise round wire, rf, and/or rigid-flex harnesses. Experience with harness design with mixed signals including knowledge of differential signals and shielding for EMI/RFI and crosstalk concerns. Moderate 3D modeling skills with a prominent commercial software package. Experience with Pro/Engineer/CREO 3D modeling and mechanical drawing generation. Experience with Creo Schematic, Mentor Capital, or other electrical system documentation software. Experience with flex and rigid flex design including familiarity with ECAD software, PCB design, signal integrity, copper weight calculations, adhesives, dielectrics, coverlays, stiffeners and thermal management. The ability to problem-solve tight space and dynamic movement constraints is a bonus. Proven design and manufacturing knowledge in machined parts, injection molded parts, wire harnesses/flex harnesses and related components.
