As a Senior Design Engineer within the Engineering department, you will serve as a pivotal link between conceptual design and physical reality. Reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager, this position is designed for a self-starter who thrives in a demanding, timeline-driven environment. You will lead project teams through the product development lifecycle, ensuring that every component and assembly not only meets functional and structural requirements but is also optimized for manufacturability and assembly.
Your day-to-day involves a blend of high-level strategic design and hands-on execution. You will utilize SolidWorks to engineer complex components and assemblies, performing critical tolerance stacks and structural analyses to validate your designs. Beyond the digital workspace, this role demands physical engagement; you will support prototype and production builds, perform vehicle trim removal, and operate 3D scanner arms directly inside vehicles. You will also play a key role in technical initiatives, such as ISO compliance, and mentor less experienced engineers on best practices.
While the core of this role is based in the office, it includes occasional travel (approximately three trips annually, primarily to Michigan) to support hands-on installations and collaborate with the supply base. You will provide technical support across engineering, validation, purchasing, quality, and production departments, ensuring seamless communication and problem-solving throughout the product lifecycle.
