The District Attorney's Office in Douglas County is seeking a Senior Deputy District Attorney to join our County Court team. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of our office, with flexibility to hire either a part-time or full-time FTE based on the candidate's experience and the opening of a new courtroom.
In this role, you will perform professional legal, docket management, and supervisory functions to prosecute felony offenses in the 23rd Judicial District. You will serve as a key partner to law enforcement, providing critical legal advice and acting as a team lead when designated. The position involves assuming responsibilities on behalf of the Chief Deputy District Attorney, participating in policy-level decisions regarding office functions, and potentially presenting cases to the grand jury.
Your day-to-day will involve preparing and trying complex criminal cases, conducting investigations, and advocating for the state in court. You will also have the opportunity to engage with the community by presenting lectures to schools and groups about the legal system and current felony issues.

In the event of an emergency or disaster in or near the County, all employees are expected to make every effort to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials, and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of necessary County functions. This may involve performing additional duties and hours beyond the normal requirement. Exempt employees working more than 40 hours a week during such emergencies may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with County policies.
