As a Speech Language Pathologist Specialist within the Student Support department, you will provide direct and indirect services designed to effect positive change in the communication behaviors of pupils with speech and/or language impairments. This role is integral to the district's mission of supporting diverse learning needs, offering diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative services to children with various communication challenges.
You will serve as a key member of the Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET), conducting comprehensive speech and language evaluations. Your work involves interpreting results for parents and teachers, developing appropriate recommendations, and writing detailed reports. A significant portion of your day will be dedicated to developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for eligible students, as well as acting as a case manager for designated special education students.
Beyond direct student interaction, you will foster collaboration by consulting with classroom teachers, administrators, and parents. You will also participate in school meetings and conferences to ensure a cohesive approach to student success. Additionally, you will maintain critical Medicaid records, validate outside diagnostic evaluations, and lead or participate in professional development in-services to advance speech and language therapy practices within the district.
Candidates must hold an Arizona Department of Education Speech Language Pathologist certification, a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology, a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CFY), and an Arizona Department of Health Services State Speech Language Pathology License. The position requires the ability to assess needs, develop and implement IEPs, evaluate outcomes, and travel to multiple work locations throughout the day.
