As a Watson Candidate Assistant at Dallas ISD, you will serve as an essential partner to teachers, ensuring a supportive and productive learning environment for all students. This role is designed to bridge the gap between instruction and individual student needs, particularly for those with physical, medical, or developmental challenges.
You will be integral to the daily rhythm of the classroom, assisting with instructional materials, maintaining an orderly space, and managing equipment. Your day will involve close collaboration with teachers to adapt curriculum for small groups, develop motor skills, and support students with personal care needs, including feeding and hygiene. A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to student supervision across various settings, from the classroom and lunchroom to the bus and playground.
This position requires a high degree of adaptability and empathy. You will work directly with students who have diverse physical and emotional needs, often intervening in crisis situations to ensure safety. Maintaining strict confidentiality and keeping teachers informed of individual student progress and challenges are key aspects of your responsibility. You will also support substitute teachers and participate in staff development to stay current with professional best practices.
This is a campus-based role that requires regular and punctual attendance at the worksite; remote work is not an option. The work environment typically features a moderate noise level, and travel throughout the Dallas ISD district is an integral part of the job. Success in this role depends on your ability to remain flexible and responsive to the rapidly changing needs of the school community.
