About the Team
L3Harris Technologies' Mission Networks Division is driving innovation in commercial FAA-related mission-critical infrastructure and services. We are seeking a Senior Specialist to lead a funded, multi-year Internal Research and Development (IRAD) effort, applying Agile Systems Engineering and SAFe-based practices to solve complex engineering challenges.
About the Role
This position is designed for a Systems Engineer who leverages Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) as the natural output of rigorous engineering practices. You will lead the development, analysis, and maintenance of SysML-based system models, with a specific emphasis on system architecture, interface definition, requirements traceability, and cross-disciplinary integration.
As a key contributor to the IRAD technical roadmap, you will work hands-on with Cameo Systems Modeler to create architecture and data models that support software-centric development. The role requires close collaboration across software, security, test, and systems engineering teams to ensure technical consistency and mission alignment. You will facilitate technical exchanges with stakeholders, produce model-derived reports such as CONOPS, and participate in Agile planning and reviews throughout the system development lifecycle. This is an on-site role where you will operate with minimal supervision to deliver disciplined model development and systems engineering rigor.

Familiarity with Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) or related architecture modeling frameworks. Knowledge of current and emerging FAA architecture and operating environments. Experience supporting operational analysis, architectural decomposition, and requirements development at multiple levels of detail. Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama Connect. Experience presenting MBSE approaches, models, and technical findings to customers and stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive work ethic. Ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment. Familiarity with INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional certification frameworks; CSEP knowledge or certification is a plus.
