As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in empowering students with special needs to gain knowledge, skills, and a sense of self-worth. Your mission is to facilitate their successful transition from high school to the community. You will serve as a vital liaison between the school, families, and the broader community, ensuring that every student receives a supportive and dignified educational experience.
In this position, you will advocate for student rights and collaborate closely with parents, administrators, and service providers to develop and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Your day-to-day responsibilities include planning instructional programs, monitoring student progress in mainstreamed classes, and implementing behavioral intervention plans. You will also guide IEP review meetings, ensuring parents and students have meaningful input, while supervising and training paraprofessionals to maintain a positive role model environment both inside and outside the classroom.
