At Woodland Middle School, the School Psychologist plays a pivotal role in diagnosing and collaboratively designing remediation programs for students facing academic and social-emotional challenges. This position is central to the school's commitment to the success of all students, actively driving the Response to Intervention (RtI) process and supporting the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) initiative.
The day-to-day work involves conducting valid intellectual, academic, and personality assessments to answer specific referral questions. As a case manager for initial evaluations and triennial revaluations, you will interpret assessment results, review RtI data, and develop recommendations for educational strategies during IEP and Problem Solving Team meetings. Beyond assessment, the role includes providing direct instruction for Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions, offering individual and group counseling, and serving as a liaison between the school, home, and community to enhance student services.
You will work collaboratively with staff, paraprofessionals, and administration to maintain a safe, orderly, and productive environment. This includes assisting in crisis situations, managing data collection for supplemental services, and ensuring all psychological reports are completed and distributed in a timely manner. The role requires a balance of technical expertise in assessment and a humanistic approach to building positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
