As a Paraprofessional/Instructional Assistant, you will serve as a vital support system within our school community. Working under the direct supervision of the principal, your primary mission is to assist students in meeting their instructional goals and objectives. This role is particularly crucial for providing continuity in the classroom by serving as a substitute when certified teachers are absent, ensuring that learning never takes a break.
You will be the bridge between curriculum and individual student needs. Your day will involve guiding students through reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer instruction, working both individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning. Beyond the classroom, you will play an active role in the school ecosystem, supervising lunch programs, bus duty, playground activities, and study halls. You will also accompany students on field trips, ensuring their safety and engagement while they explore the world around them.
A significant part of your contribution involves supporting students with special needs. You will help maximize inclusion and achievement by assisting with IEP objectives and supporting students with physical or mental disabilities in their daily activities. Your presence helps create a safe, orderly, and compassionate environment where every student can thrive.
Candidates with any combination of education and experience that provides the required skills and knowledge are encouraged to apply. Typical qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, along with the successful completion of college-level coursework or passing the examination required by the No Child Left Behind Act. Prior experience working with special needs children is desirable.
We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive school environment. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background and strive to maintain a supportive atmosphere for all students, staff, and families.
