The Special Education Paraprofessional at Oakview Elementary School plays a vital role in supporting students with special needs. Working under the direction of the special education teacher, this position is designed to facilitate a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. The role requires close collaboration with teachers, students, parents, and the broader school community to ensure that educational and behavioral goals are met effectively.
As a key member of the school team, you will assist in adapting classroom activities and materials to meet individual student needs. Your day will involve a variety of tasks, from reinforcing instructional skills to providing physical support for students with mobility needs. You will also be responsible for monitoring students across diverse school settings, including the bus, playground, restrooms, and field trips, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Applicants must meet the "Highly Qualified" standards, which include holding a 2-year Associate Degree, completing 48 semester hours (or 72 quarter hours) of college credit, or passing the state paraprofessional standards exam (PARAPRO Test). Additionally, candidates must possess a valid Ohio educational aide permit and successfully pass criminal background checks and pre-employment drug screenings.
