The Special Education Services department works to provide quality services and expertise that support scholars in their academic, emotional, behavioral, and social success.
As a School Social Worker in Special Education, you will serve as a vital link between scholars, families, and the community. Your role involves providing support through program design, assessment, and intervention strategies. You will coordinate with community agencies and ensure compliance with Michigan Special Education laws, while implementing Response to Intervention (RTI) and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) frameworks.
In this position, you will conduct diagnostic evaluations, lead behavior intervention teams, and facilitate Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings with parents and school teams. You will collaborate with teachers to support positive practices within the classroom, conduct observations to provide feedback, and offer professional development on data collection and PBIS structures. Whether providing individual therapy sessions, crisis intervention support, or parent training, your work directly impacts the well-being and learning outcomes of scholars.
