About the Role

Sign Language Interpreters at Chaffey College serve as vital bridges within our diverse campus community. In this specialized program, you facilitate the communication and integration of deaf, hard of hearing, and otherwise disabled students, faculty, staff, and guests. Your work ensures full participation in the classroom, instructional settings, and the broader college community using American Sign Language (ASL), Signed English, or Transliteration.

This is a temporary, on-call vendor position. As an interpreter, you will act as a liaison between the deaf and hearing-impaired community and the college, explaining needs and concerns while consulting with faculty to identify potential barriers to effective service. Your day-to-day may involve educational interpreting in lecture environments, supporting individualized instruction, or serving as a liaison at department meetings, student orientations, counseling appointments, field trips, and theatrical productions. Depending on the course structure, you may also perform Video Remote Interpreting (VRI).
