The Shift Lead at Banfield Pet Hospital serves as a vital bridge between clinical excellence and operational efficiency. This position is designed to ensure continuity of leadership across all shifts, guaranteeing that the hospital is always supported by onsite guidance for both associates and clients. While the role requires performing the duties of a Clinical Support Center (CSC) or veterinary assistant/technician approximately 80% of the time, the remaining 20% is dedicated to leadership responsibilities, particularly when the Practice Manager or Chief of Staff are not present.
In this capacity, you will help coordinate paraprofessional staff, support hospital leadership in maximizing productivity and profitability, and foster a culture that aligns with the Five Principles of Mars, Inc.: Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency, and Freedom. You will work closely with the Practice Manager and Chief of Staff to ensure effective communication flows between clients, associates, Field Leadership, and Central Team Support.
Your day will be a dynamic blend of hands-on patient care and team leadership. As a paraprofessional, you will manage the flow of clients and pets, ensuring superior care and maximum productivity. You will educate clients on wellness plans and preventative care, handle administrative tasks like documentation and billing, and assist veterinarians with procedures, surgery prep, and patient monitoring. You will act as the "extra eyes, ears, and hands" for the medical team, ensuring safety and efficiency in treatment areas.
As a leader, you will step in to guide the team, assist with scheduling, and mentor new associates. You will help identify operational bottlenecks, ensure equipment readiness, and foster an environment where associates feel engaged and supported. Whether triaging the treatment board or resolving client issues, your goal is to maintain the high standards of care and service that Banfield is known for.

The pay range for this role is $20.35 - $26.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's experience, skill level, and education. Associate's degree or veterinary technician certification/licensure. Six months experience at Banfield. Prior supervisory experience. Medical background (veterinary technician, human healthcare, pharmaceutical, etc.) with medical terminology training.
