Shift Lead

About the Role

As a Shift Lead at Walgreens, you serve as the operational backbone of the store, stepping in to open and close the location in the absence of store management. This role is critical for ensuring the business day begins and ends smoothly, with all systems started, cash handling protocols followed, and the floor and stock room prepared for customers.

You will model a distinctive and delightful customer experience by engaging with shoppers and patients, offering assistance, and resolving issues to ensure satisfaction. Beyond direct customer interaction, you act as a liaison between management and the team, communicating tasks and reporting feedback when leadership is not present. You will also coach team members on customer service best practices, sharing interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits to elevate the store's overall performance.

Day in the Life

Your day involves a dynamic mix of leadership, operations, and compliance. You will manage the store's keys, handle vendor deliveries, and oversee the ordering process. A significant portion of your time is dedicated to maintaining operational accuracy, including registering sales, managing cash drops, and ensuring inventory counts are precise across basic departments and stockrooms.

You will assist managers in reviewing order exceptions, developing promotional displays, and ensuring proper pricing and signage. Safety and compliance are paramount; you will enforce policies regarding regulated products, maintain food safety standards (such as separating raw and pre-cooked items), and conduct bag checks. Additionally, you will support the pharmacy window as needed and ensure the store remains clean, neat, and orderly.
