As a Sheet Metal Journeyman, you will work with the mechanical team to fabricate, assemble, and install mechanical systems on various commercial construction sites. This role is vital to bringing complex HVAC infrastructure to life, ensuring that every duct, damper, and assembly meets the highest standards of quality and safety.
You will be responsible for interpreting blueprints and specifications to guide your work on-site. From fabricating parts using shears, brakes, and bending rollers to installing support hangers and making final connections to equipment, your expertise ensures the seamless operation of mechanical systems. The position requires a hands-on approach, utilizing both hand tools and portable power equipment to trim, file, grind, and smooth surfaces. You will also operate man lifts, chain hoists, and duct jacks, often working at various heights to complete installations.
Beyond technical execution, you will be expected to lead and coach helpers and laborers, fostering a collaborative environment. Success in this role requires a positive, cooperative, and teachable attitude, along with the initiative to work independently or as part of a team. You must possess strong communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues and clients, as well as the physical ability to stand, squat, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Candidates must be able to pass a full background screening, drug screening, and a physical ability test. A valid MVR check is required if applicable, or you must demonstrate reliable transportation. Travel may be required as needed for specific projects.
