This position serves as a vital single point of entry within the Aging & Disability Services department, guiding applicants through the initial intake, eligibility determination, and assessment processes. The role exists to ensure equitable access to the I/DD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) system, facilitating informed decision-making for individuals and their guardians regarding community-based services.
In this capacity, you will act as a bridge between applicants and the broader service network. Your day involves administering functional assessments using the Eligibility Determination Instrument (EDI), clarifying eligibility issues, and providing options counseling. You will coordinate appointments, manage case transfers, and distribute resource packets to connect stakeholders with local and state-wide community resources. The role requires a deep understanding of the I/DD system to effectively educate applicants and stakeholders on available service options and funding statuses.
Applicants must meet specific minimum qualifications, including a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Candidates must possess a valid US driver's license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. All applicants are required to submit to criminal and abuse/neglect registry background checks. The Kansas Department for Aging & Disability Services (KDADS) may grant exceptions to minimum qualifications on a case-by-case basis.
