Saab Inc.'s Autonomous and Undersea Systems division is dedicated to helping nations keep their people and society safe by pushing the boundaries of technology. Our team designs and builds advanced Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs), and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) that support the U.S. Armed Forces, the Federal Aviation Administration, and international partners. We are a company of 28,000 talented individuals across ten U.S. locations, fostering an environment where diversity is an asset and professional growth is unlimited.
We are seeking an innovative Senior Staff Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in a hands-on position that spans a wide array of design challenges. This role is ideal for an engineer interested in leading, designing, and developing complex systems for subsea applications. You will work on a diverse spectrum of electrical engineering topics, including AC and DC power systems, battery management, sensor integration, and electromechanical components like propulsion and actuators.
In this position, you will not only design but also build, test, and integrate the systems you create. You will lead design approaches, analyze operating data, and make critical design decisions based on test results. Your expertise will guide system-level decisions for interdisciplinary teams, ensuring that power and endurance budgets are maintained throughout development phases. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the research and development of new circuit card designs and electromechanical assemblies while supporting key subcontractors and suppliers.
While this position will start as remote or hybrid, it is ultimately based out of our new facility in Bristol, Rhode Island, opening in late 2026 or early 2027. You will have the chance to present technical concepts and results to both internal and external customers, tailoring your communication to the audience.
Applicants selected for this role will be subject to a government security investigation. Candidates must hold or be able to obtain a U.S. DoD SECRET security clearance. As a condition of employment, all candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, in adherence to Saab's federal government contractor policies for sustaining drug-free workplaces.
