Saab Inc.'s Autonomous and Undersea Systems division is dedicated to helping nations keep their people and society safe by pushing the boundaries of technology. Our team designs and builds advanced Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) that span complex electrical domains, including AC and DC power systems, sensor integration, and electromechanical propulsion. About the Role

This Senior Staff Electrical Engineer position is a hands-on opportunity to lead, design, and develop electrical systems for subsea applications. You will work on a wide array of design challenges, from battery systems and conversion to acoustic and sensor integration. This role is ideal for an engineer who wants to build, test, and integrate the designs they create, moving beyond theory to tangible results.

You will serve as a technical leader, guiding system-level decisions and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams including Systems, Software, Mechanical, Quality, and Manufacturing. Your day-to-day will involve analyzing operating data, conducting functional tests, and making critical design decisions based on results. You will also be responsible for creating power and endurance budgets, leading design verification efforts, and providing technical support to subcontractors and suppliers.

While this position will start as remote or hybrid, it is ultimately based out of our new facility in Bristol, Rhode Island, opening in late 2026 or early 2027. You will have the chance to present technical concepts to internal and external customers and contribute to cost/benefit trade-off analyses and feasibility studies.
