We are seeking a Senior Research Scientist to join a research team at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, VA. You will provide technical expertise to the Advanced Materials and Processing Branch (AMPB) under the RSES contract. Your primary mission is to support the design and performance estimation of thermal radiators for space applications. This includes developing novel thermal radiator designs at the materials level to acquire thermal and dust-tolerant properties necessary to sustain presence under the stringent environmental conditions of the lunar surface.
In this role, you will work effectively within a technical team to drive materials design, coupon fabrication, and processing. You will conduct detailed characterization tasks, including thermal and mechanical evaluations, and utilize optical and electron microscopy equipment. Success in this position requires the ability to explore new research directions, communicate technical outcomes clearly through presentations and written reports, and interface with internal and external customers while maintaining high-quality standards.
