About the Role
SGA is seeking an Operations Supervisor for a premier utility client in San Jose, CA. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this role serves as the linchpin for day-to-day field and control-room activities associated with water production, treatment, storage, and distribution facilities.
You will provide direct leadership to operations staff, maintenance personnel, and technical specialists, ensuring safe, compliant, and reliable system performance across multiple facilities. The position balances real-time operational decision-making with strategic planning, coordination, and analysis. Your work will be pivotal in maintaining water quality, system reliability, and workforce safety while supporting capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives. As a key point of contact for customer concerns, you will ensure timely resolution of issues related to water service and system operations, fostering trust and transparency within the community.

Key Responsibilities

- check_circleUtilize automated monitoring platforms to oversee equipment performance and preserve water quality
- check_circlePartner with safety staff to implement programs, conduct training, and respond to incidents
- check_circleDevelop and enforce standard operating procedures for operations, maintenance, and chemical systems
- check_circleLead initiatives to improve system reliability, operational efficiency, and emergency preparedness
- check_circleOversee water quality activities including system flushing, pressure management, and sample collection
- check_circleCoordinate work performed by external contractors alongside internal operational resources
- check_circleCollaborate with engineering and construction teams to support capital improvement efforts
- check_circleReview operational reports and technical documentation for accuracy and optimization opportunities
- check_circlePrepare performance reports, budget documentation, and perform routine data analysis
- check_circleParticipate in personnel management activities including interviewing, coaching, and performance assessment

Requirements
- verifiedBachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or related discipline
- verifiedPrior lead or responsible role in water treatment/distribution operations or engineering
- verifiedState Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator certification Level D3 preferred
- verifiedState Water Resources Control Board Treatment Operator certification desirable
- verifiedPrevious supervisory or lead experience
- verifiedValid California driver's license with acceptable driving record
Nice to Have
Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, or a related discipline. State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator certification at Level D3. State Water Resources Control Board Treatment Operator certification. Previous supervisory or lead experience.
