The Central Plant Supervisor serves as a pivotal leader within the Central Plant operations on the Tempe campus, with the responsibility to supervise the installations, repairs, overhauls, and maintenance of high and low-pressure heating systems, cooling systems, and power plants. This role is essential for ensuring the uninterrupted 24/7 operation of the university's critical infrastructure.
In this position, you will guide intermediate to complex facility operations by supervising staff through daily interactions, goal setting, and performance assessments. You will plan and develop work methods to meet schedules, inspect work in process for quality, and train employees on new procedures to decrease costs. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership, as you will prepare cost estimates, assist in capital budget preparation, and coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and engineers.
While the primary schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the nature of plant operations demands availability for night, weekend, and emergency response activities. You may be required to work shifts and travel to other ASU campuses depending on operational needs. This is a hands-on role where you may also operate or repair central plant equipment during emergencies, working in environments that can be noisy, involve varying temperatures, and require the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
