At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today's mission and stay ahead of tomorrow's threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.
The Materials and Process Engineering Department, within Hardware Engineering, is seeking a Senior Principal High Temperature Materials Engineer to join our Advanced Materials Section in Tucson, Arizona. This role serves as a technical leader for material decisions, defining the strategic direction for program or product lines while considering technical and programmatic aspects. You will drive the execution of that strategy across multiple programs, acting as a subject matter expert to the organization in developing required technologies for high-temperature applications.
As part of a multi-disciplined team, you will work independently or lead teams to solve the most challenging high-temperature materials problems. Your day-to-day involves providing independently determined solutions to create high-fidelity simulations and models for missile system design, performance assessment, flight test support, and trade studies. You will also define design verification test requirements to ensure key performance characteristics and environmental interaction effects are quantified within program cost and schedule constraints. Deliverables include test documentation, data analysis, anomaly resolution, and presenting results to internal and external customers. Additionally, you will provide mentorship and shoulder-to-shoulder empirical experience for engineers.
Candidates must be U.S. citizens with an active and existing DoD Secret security clearance. The interview process may include select steps conducted in-person at one of our office locations to maintain a secure hiring environment. Please review the role type definition: this is an Onsite position, meaning employees work primarily onsite as they are essential to product development.
