The Senior Research Administrator serves as a pivotal partner to the Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research, bridging the gap between the Central Office and departmental operations. This role is designed to ensure the seamless execution of the sponsored project life cycle, from the initial conception of a grant application to the final closeout of awards.
In this position, you will act as a strategic advisor to Principal Investigators, helping them navigate the complexities of federal compliance and institutional policies. The role requires a high degree of judgment to manage conflicting views and mediate fair solutions while maintaining the integrity of research funds. You will be responsible for fostering a collaborative environment, working effectively across the organization to improve administrative performance and support the institute's mission of advancing aging research.
Your work will involve a dynamic mix of pre-award and post-award responsibilities. You will guide Principal Investigators through the intricacies of grant applications, assisting with budget development and the collection of necessary materials. Once awards are secured, you will manage the financial stewardship of these funds, including the allocation of research labor costs, reconciliation of monthly expenses, and forecasting of expenditures.
A significant portion of your time will be dedicated to collaboration with subaward teams to prepare agreements and draft research-related documents. You will also play a key role in implementing institutional-wide procedures, ensuring that both financial and operational policies are applied consistently. Success in this role requires the ability to independently seek out answers from federal compliance resources and hospital technical experts, ensuring that all activities remain compliant with evolving regulations.
Candidates selected for an interview will be invited to participate in a series of discussions focused on their experience in sponsored research administration and their ability to navigate complex regulatory environments. The process is designed to assess both technical knowledge and the soft skills necessary for effective collaboration and problem-solving.
We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment for all employees. We consider qualified applicants regardless of background, race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
