Volunteers of America Mid-States (VOA) is a non-profit organization spanning four states, dedicated to creating positive change in the lives of individuals and communities through a ministry of service. Since our founding in 1896, the spirit of "volunteer" has defined our mission: anyone who serves others as a vocation through a commitment to a cause. Today, we are staffed by paid, mission-driven professionals working to build thriving communities.
Our work provides housing for families, veterans, and low-income seniors, while offering care and support for individuals with developmental disabilities. We also deliver healing accountability through restorative justice and provide free HIV testing and education. At VOA, flexibility, teamwork, and fun are core values that make our employees proud to work here.
The Director of Grants plays a pivotal role in the expansion and sustainability of our programs by leading the end-to-end process of writing, securing, and managing grants from government, foundation, and private sources. This position is designed to bridge the gap between programmatic needs and financial resources, ensuring our mission-driven work continues to grow.
You will partner closely with the Senior Director of Business Development, the VP of External Relations, Program Leaders, Finance, and Human Resources to navigate the business development and funding proposal submission process. Your day will involve researching potential funding opportunities, analyzing regulatory landscapes, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to craft compelling proposals. Beyond writing, you will leverage AI-powered tools to enhance grant prospecting and data analysis, while supervising the Development Manager to guide performance and advance organizational goals.
Qualified candidates will be considered for an interview process that includes a review of their portfolio and experience in federal proposal development. Successful applicants will move through discussions with the Senior Director of Business Development and relevant program leadership to assess cultural fit and strategic alignment.
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
